Providing additional support
Providing additional support
Members of the dental team need to act as soon as they recognise a need to promote or safeguard a child or young person’s wellbeing, and before crisis point is reached. This may be due to a lack of ability or motivation to attend or to comply with dental preventive care, advice and treatment offered (e.g. missing a scheduled appointment for a significant problem, such as pain or abscess). The child or young person might also experience other vulnerabilities, such as additional care needs or being an unpaid carer, for which they may require additional support.
